wrong time no see

Wednesday, June 16th, 2010

yeah – I know – mine is one of those 95% of all blogs that was abandoned but I figured I’d give it another shot

there’s a lot to report – a new motorcycle for starters but let’s start with the new band FEMALE MOTORISTS – it’s just me and nicole but we do OK – we had our first show last night at the FIRESIDE BOWL – the flaizes and dan the fan came which is pretty cool – everyone else is a jerk

ASM + TOUGH SHITS + STALKERS

Friday, April 10th, 2009

we played with the TOUGH SHITS again on wednesday night – it was lots of fun

I love those guys – I don’t think we played that well, but we’ll see – ryan’s buddies video taped it – after the show I tried unsuccessfully to pick up adam and we both crashed onto the street – I can hardly walk now – I definitely fucked something up – my hips are crooked – I’m gonna try to rig up a rope on a pulley and see if I can do a little chiropractic-magic on myself – wish me luck

alert!

Saturday, February 28th, 2009

man – I have posted in a while – busy busy busy with rpm challenge – the records almost done – you can hear it in progress here.

the real reason i’m here is to talk about google alerts ….

I have them setup for my website, and the websites for all my bands and whatnot – most of the time, it’s crap, but once in a while I find something interesting like a review or a post about an upcoming show – sometimes I find stuff from my past – but today I found this which I wasn’t really expecting and I’m really not sure how to interpret it …

theory blog!

Tuesday, January 6th, 2009

I’m addicted to google reader and since google knows everything about me, including, but not limited to, what I like, it often suggests feeds for me that I might like. one such feed is guitargear.org

the author (goofydawg) writes reviews of gear and whatnot – yesterday, he posted an article on theory that had some inaccurate stuff and since I’m an incessant know-it-all, I couldn’t help but post a correction – it came out more strongly than I had intended and I posted a nicer follow up with some examples – he e-mailed me last night and asked if I would like to contribute – now, I’ve wanted for some time to do some writing or teaching about theory since most of my friends don’t have as much formal training as I do and I thought this was a great opportunity so I took him up on the offer!

I just posted my first article – a brief intro to western music tonality and terminology related to chords, scales and notes – I’m pretty excited about this – I think it will be a good opportunity for me to spout off that someone might actually read (no offense, dearest loyal readers)

wesman radio

I always used to talk about getting an FM transmitter – not the kind for your ipod, but one that’s a few watts that could hit the whole neighborhood – I’d hook it up to my itunes and just let it rip all day – well, considering that one of these transmitters costs about as much as a pair of silver fluevogs, the odds of me buying the transmitter are slim – this got me to thinking about how much I like to make mix CDs and whatnot which all lead me into podcasting – I’ve been working on this for a few days now and just posted my first episode!

you can click the itunes link on the right and you can subscribe automatically in itunes and listen to it wherever – not just within 200 yards of my crib

anyway – I hope you rikey rikey!

there’s no angels like snow angels!

Sunday, December 21st, 2008

oh baby!

last night was the snow angels show at delilah’s – it was a lot of fun – tons of people showed up and most of them danced – especially during the drunken 2nd set

since I’m the keyboard guy, I get wedged in the back but here’s a sweet photo of the guys that make it happen up front

in a way, I’m like the quarterback and they’re like the linemen

now I’m off home for x-mas in a few hours

snow angels @ laurie’s x-mas party

Monday, December 15th, 2008

we played an unnannounced x-mas party at ricochet’s (rick o’shea’s – get it?) – it was fun – I wore my onesy that xi xi gave me – a good time was had by all (especially me!)

you can actually see me in some of these photos too!

snow angels on pure hype

Saturday, December 13th, 2008

snow angels season officially started last night – we played on WHPK‘s Pure Hype – it was lots of fun – we brought a bunch of neat looking broads with us and they danced the whole time

look how happy I am!

frigates at the volcano room

Friday, December 12th, 2008

frigates played at the volcano room last night – it was pretty sweet even though it was poorly attended – it’s getting colder and colder in chicago – i’m thinking that next year, I’m going to take the winter months off – or move somewhere where it’s always warm – RPM challenge is coming up in february and there’s just one show (frigates, january 9th @ quencher’s) scheduled – could be a good time to stay in

when we went to detroit, I brought Viva Equals for the ride and brian and marc both totally dug it (which is awesome, because I love this band – big thanks to johnny sheeran for the tip – and I show them to people all the time with varying degrees of shared-enthusiasm) – especially, (one of my favorite equals songs>, Michael and The Slipper Tree – anyway, long story short: we played it at the show – I can’t find a good video of that on youtube, but here’s a rad video of them playing a bunch of songs live back in their prime

dig eddy grant’s rad guitar (and everything else about this band that is totally awesome)!

automatic stinging machines vs the volcano room

Friday, December 5th, 2008

man oh man – last night was AMAZING – we played with our friends awesome and johnny roger – after our last show (aka the urchin debacle), this was exactly what we needed – we played with and for our friends – it was a good lineup – dan the fan made it out and he TOTALLY loved awesome (good for you guys!)

jim hollywood set everything up for us, totally took care of us at the bar and was, in general, just pleasant to be around – he also seemed to enjoy the event which is great so I hope we can play there again sometime soon – he also dished out some rocky soundtrack action after our set which was really incredible

our actual performance was just a blur for me – I think we played pretty well – we were pretty tight but I kept going for it and didn’t always make it – but everyone seemed to have a good time

and that’s what rock and roll is all about baby!

have a good time, all the time
